With an educational background in creative arts, I specialised in Interior Design before choosing to study Textiles at degree level. In 1998, I graduated from The Surrey Institute of Art & Design (UCA Farnham) with First Class Honours. Additionlly that year, I was awarded a licentiate to the Society of Designer Craftsmen. In 1999, I gained my post graduate Further & Adult Education teachers' certificate.
Subsequently, I began to transfer my work into a more commercial form, producing an initial range of hand embroidered greeting cards. These cards enabled me to transfer the qualities of a hand woven textile by using layers of translucent tissue & metallic to bring about interest, textural change & visual appeal. Each card is made totally by hand, resulting in a completely unique range of designs.
Living by the coastline, combined with a passion for drawing, I then started to explore the basic elements around me. I have always loved the seaside, from many fun filled holidays as as child, to a grown up place to escape from it all & lose myself in a daydream. I began to view the childhood attractions with the same feelings of pleasure & was enchanted by their sense of magic.
The result of this enthusiam is a range of contemporary designs, inspired by the sea & it's surroundng companions. Fresh & bright, with a touch of naivety & humour, my range of cards & prints continues to expand.
I hope you enjoy this visit to my website, please come back again soon.
